Announcements

Amplicon Sequencing (16S/18S/ITS etc) - Price per sample, per amplicon

Short amplicons are sequenced on our Illumina MiSeq i100, using 2x300 bp paired-end reads. Full-length amplicons are sequenced on our PacBio Vega. Client-Prepared Pool Sequencing - Price per run

This service is for clients who have fully prepared their own libraries (Amplicon or Metagenomic) with barcodes+adapters and pooled them, ready for direct sequencing on our Illumina platforms. Pricing is per whole sequencer run, but partial runs can be purchased on a pro-rated basis2.

(Meta)Transcriptome & Isoform Sequencing - Price per sample

During Metatransciptomic and RNAseq library prep, samples undergo rRNA depletion and finish as Total Stranded RNA. They are sequenced on our NextSeq2000 (2x150 bp PE). Isoform sequencing (Iso-Seq) is performed on our PacBio Vega for full-length transcripts.

DNA Extraction (optional/extra fee) - Price per sample

The IMR offers nucleic acid extraction services for most standard samples (ex: soil, stool, cultures) and select low-biomass samples - visit our Microbiome Sequencing Wizard for guidance on which samples types we accept. Prices for these services are separate from sequencing and extra costs may be incurred if samples, due to their nature, require more specialized (length, cost, etc.) extraction procedures.

Bioinformatics Services (optional/extra fee) - Price per project/analysis

Complete details of our amplicon and metagenomics pipelines are available on our Microbiome Helper website, but a summary of the major deliverables clients will receive are available on our Protocols page. Analyses will require a "mapping file" from clients containing any relevant metadata for the study and are charged once per project submission (ie: per time we have to run the analysis).

Notes

1. These are generally maximum raw read/base outputs you will receive: there is inherent variability in runs and the performance of samples, depending on their quality, so expect a potential range of outputs as there is no way to guarantee the performance of complex DNA samples. Additionally for PacBio, the Gb values are for the estimated HiFi (CCS) reads obtained and are dependent upon the final size of the library inserts, which can vary depending on the quality of the DNA and resulting library success.

2. For clients wishing to use part of a 25M run with a prepared pool of amplicons, simply divide 380 by your sample # then multiply by the above price to determine your pool cost (this is for a 1X depth, simply double the amount for 2X). Similarly, for clients wishing to use part of a P3 run with a prepared pool of metagenomes, simply divide 192 by your sample # then multiply by the above price to determine your pool cost (this is for a 1X depth).

Final Pricing: GST/HST will be added to all Canadian orders. A fee of $25/shipment to cover Customs costs will be added to all international orders.

Max Samples per Run: For amplicons, one control well is required per 96-well PCR library plate, hence a maximum of 4x95=380 samples can be done together on one MiSeq run (190 for a 2X run) or 2x95=190 samples on a Vega run (95 for a 2X run). Any batches >380/190 will need to be spread across multiple MiSeq/Vega runs.

Customs primers/amplicons: Beyond the 16S/18S/ITS amplicons offered "in-stock", essentially any PCR amplicon (max. size ~550 bp, best ~450-500 bp for MiSeq; no size limit for Vega) can be adapted to our systems. Please consults us for primer design/protocol details. Pricing is as follows (one-time extra oligo ordering charge): $1050/1400/2100 for oligos for 1-95/96-190/191-380 samples for MiSeq; $350/700 for oligos for 1-95/96-190 samples for Vega.

Custom Bioinformatics: Additional bioinformatic analyses can be requested at an hourly rate or (more rarely due to limited resources) through research collaboration. Please contact us for more details.

Processing time: Time to completion may be variable depending on the amount of other partial projects in the queue - this generally does not apply to amplicons as we have enough capacity to complete runs weekly, but occurs more when submitting small numbers of samples for metagenomics runs (<192 for NextSeq2000) or de novo genomes (<48 for Vega).

Payment: Payment is required within 30 days of receiving your invoice, only after completion of work (ie: delivery of data). All payments are final and no refunds are accepted.
